A new beginning
Beam
Global ventures into the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) segment with
Whisky DYC
Beam
Global Spirits & Wine, Inc has introduced an Indian Made Foreign
Liquor (IMFL) brand, Whisky DYC, which is a blend of premium Indian
grain and imported aged malts. Whisky DYC is an established brand in
Europe that has been adapted exclusively for the Indian market, and
will be blended and bottled in the country. Beam Global is aiming to
fill the gap between the premium and semi-premium IMFL segments in the
market. Incidentally, IMFL is the largest segment in the whisky sector
of India. The launch of DYC will contribute to the expansion of the
Beam Global India portfolio and add distribution strength to the companys
flagship brand Teachers as well as to the companys international
of brands. Beam Global expects DYC to benefit from its association with
Teachers, the number one Scotch whisky brand in the bottled
in India Scotch segment. Under the leadership of an experienced
team, Teachers has achieved strong double-digit growth in India
during 2006. Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Incs President and
Chief Executive Officer Thomas J Flocco, who was present at the launch,
said, The acquisition, of brands including Teachers whisky,
propelled Beam Global Spirits & Wine onto the global stage. One
year later, we have a meaningful presence in one of the fastest growing
economies in the world and it is a privilege to be here in person to
explore this exciting market. He further added, I am proud
of the fact that our team in India has accomplished so much in such
a short time with the introduction of Jim Beam, the worlds number
one premium bourbon; Sauza tequila, the worlds number two tequila;
Laphroaig single malt Scotch, the worlds number one Islay whisky;
and the launch of Whisky DYC, which enables us to compete in a new and
expansive category. We are enthusiastic about the opportunities that
lie ahead for our company in India and intend to realise the full potential
of the Indian market. Beam Global is part of Fortune Brands, Inc, a
US$ 8 billion company that acquired more than 25 former Allied Domecq
Spirits and Wine brands in July 2005. The company is focused on India
for Beam Global and the launch of DYC is the first of many initiatives
designed to tap the potential of the Indian market. Whisky DYC is of
premium quality with world class packaging at a price of Rs 370 for
750 ml, available in a glass bottle with a Guala closure. It will also
be made available in special gift cartons. Whisky DYC comes after Jim
Beam in India, the worlds best selling bourbon, which is also
Beam Global's flagship brand. It will be available at leading outlets
across the country.
