biggest agro technology fair will be held in Chandigarh from Dec 1-4,

Agro
Tech 2006, India's Premier Biennial Agro Technology Fair will be held
in Chandigarh from December 1-4, 2006, and will showcase the latest
in agricultural technology, products and allied services. Organised
by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the mega event also features
seven concurrent International Expos and six International Food and
Agri Conferences, covering different sectors of agriculture and related
economy.
The Vice
President of India, His Excellency Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will
inaugurate this mega event in a colourful function at 1500 hrs on December
1, 2006. The Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana, senior functionaries
of CII, representatives of various Governmental and Non-Government Organisations
and Private Sector Industry relating to agriculture will also be present
on this occasion.
Agro Tech
2006 is spread over a huge overall area of 28,000 sq m. The theme of
Agro Tech 2006 has been identified as Technology in Agriculture:
Growing Farmer Wealth. The Agri Services Showcase 2006, being
concurrently held with Agro Tech 2006, is the manifestation of the theme
of the mega event. The showcase will feature country's apex educational,
financial and research institutes that will share knowledge and technical
expertise with the farmers visiting Agro Tech 2006. Indian farmers are
all set to benefit from the Dutch expertise in innovative cropping systems,
floriculture, dairy, poultry, fishery, quality systems, logistics and
chain management, cost reduction systems as The Netherlands is the Partner
Country for Agro Tech 2006.
Australia,
Canada, China, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain, South Africa and
Wales are other countries that are participating. The State of Uttar
Pradesh is the Partner State for Agro Tech 2006 and states of Haryana
and Punjab will be the Host States. Other states participating are Himachal
Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttaranchal. The main objective of
the mega event is to increase knowledge dissemination, technology adoption
and awareness creation among the farmers of Northern Region. It will
help in identifying the areas of potential and inducing investment in
agriculture and allied sectors in the region by way of seven concurrent
shows. It will provide an excellent opportunity to the investors, input
manufacturers, agricultural traders for promoting their activities and
products in the North including agro chemicals, agro fertilisers, horticulture,
and floriculture.
Concurrent
expositions
Agri Expo 2006, an international exposition, would feature the
best of domestic and international firms engaged in horticulture, floriculture,
sericulture, seeds, agro chemicals, agro fertilisers and pesticides
etc. Agri Services 2006 would exhibit the various services available
to the Indian Agriculturist. Biotech 2006 would offer an opportunity
to look at the next wave of biotechnology cutting edge applications.
Dairy Expo 2006 would highlight the latest developments in the fields
of dairy equipment and technology amidst a host of other fields. Farm
Tech 2006 an exposition on farm technology would feature latest tractors,
farming equipments, forestry machinery, crop processing and so on.
Food Expo
2006 would present the latest developments in food processing and packaging
technologies. Poultry & Livestock Expo 2006 would showcase the latest
in Poultry Equipment and Technology, Poultry Management techniques and
so on.
International
conferences
Coinciding with Agro Tech 2006, CII would organise six International
Conferences on: Dairy Industry, Integrating Food Value Chain, Food Services
and Retailing, Public Private Partnership in Agri Infrastructure, Rural
Credit and Delivery, and Biotechnology.
