Label connection
A trade-enhancing forum between European and
Indian labelling industries is on the anvil after a series of
conferences in Mumbai and New Delhi, updates
Times Food Processing Journal
FINAT, the self-adhesive label trade
association will act as a 'matchmaker'
between European and Indian labelling
industries to create a forum to give small and
medium sized member companies in both
regions better chances of doing business with
each other. The forum is supported by the
EU's Asia Invest programme and will be
organised in co-operation with the national
trade associations VskE (Germany) and
LMAI (India).
The move will culminate with face-to-face
meetings between companies in New Delhi in
December, but will start in August when
members of the Label Manufacturers
Association of India (LMAI) would meet in
Mumbai to be told of the practical aspects of
doing business with European companies.
It is hoped that a total of about 80 small
and medium sized label printers and
converters from both trade regions will form
the core of the Euro-India Labelling
Exchange, as the forum will be called.
Jules Lejeune, MD, FINAT and Surendra
Kapur, President, LMAI, foresee great
potential for co-operation between partners in
the respective regions.
"The aim is to lay the foundation for
successful business co-operation between
Indian and European SMEs in the labelling
industry. This includes the development of
trade and supply relations, investment in the
labelling sector both in India and the EU, the
establishment of joint ventures and the
transfer of market knowledge and technology."
"Success will strengthen the sector in both
India and the EU."
The conference that is to be scheduled in
Mumbai will explain to LMAI's members the
objectives of the Labelling Exchange,
introduce the European market to them and
provide general information concerning the
Asia Invest programme.
The meet is also expected to identify
companies wanting to develop joint trade
relations and will enable profiles to be
developed to facilitate the 'matchmaking.'
The European-Indian Labelling Exchange
(December 5-7, 2006) will feature a seminar
giving detailed oversights into the respective
markets, before moving on the face-to-face
meetings between companies that want to
develop partnerships. This event will coincide
with the India Label Show that will be held in
New Delhi from December 6-9, 2006.
