National
Biscuit brand 'Priya' to foray into
the soft drink segment
Kolkata's Priya Laboratories,
known for its popular brand of
'Priya' biscuits, would soon
endorse soft drinks and juices.
The company has decided to
make its entry intro this industry
by introducing soft drinks in four
flavours ( nimbu pani, fresh lime
soda, ice cream soda and apple)
and juice in five flavours under
the brand 'Priya Yours.'
Commenting on this move, Vinay Agarwal, Director,
Priya Laboratories said, "We will not be competing
with any major brands who primarily operate in cola
and other popular segment." With regard to pricing,
the juice products will be priced 30-35 per cent lower
than other major brands available in the market.
The company has set up a manufacturing plant in
Rajarhat spanning across 1.36 hectares with an initial
investment of Rs 1 crore. They are also looking
forward to sourcing a major portion of the required
raw material from local markets and some from
Southern India for quality issues. With the current
production capacity of 5,000 litres per day, Priya
Laboratories hopes to register a turnover of Rs 3
crore within the current financial year. Out of this
amount, Rs 1 crore is expected from the soft drink
segment and the remaining from the juice segment.
