Unveiling
the future
TFPJ
presents the sixth Agro Tech to be held in Chandigarh where prime importance
will be accorded to cutting edge technologies that agro-based industries
can benefit from
Indias premier biennial agro-technology fair, Agro Tech 2004 will
be held in Chandigarh from December 3-6, 2004. The sixth in the series,
Agro Tech 2004 promises to unveil the potential of the Indian agriculture
industry. An event eagerly looked forward to by farmers and industry
alike, Agro Tech brings a wealth of information for farmers on how they
can benefit and improve their productivity and profits from the latest
technologies, processes and services that will be displayed at the Fair.
Having the largest acreage of cropland in the world, and 11 per cent
of the worlds total land area under agriculture, India continues
to be one of the largest agriculture markets in the world. Over 250
agro-based companies have participated in each Agro Tech. The fair has
been visited by over 100,000 visitors each time, of which as many as
20,000 form business visitors with core specialisations in different
agriculture and related sectors, from India and the neighbouring countries.
To further catalyse the growth in the sector, Cll is organising Agri
Services Showcase, a step forward from the Model Village
concept of Agro Tech 2002. Being held concurrently with the sixth edition
of Agro Tech, Agro Services Showcase will create an effective platform
to display and demonstrate the numerous opportunities in the agriservices
sector. The showcase will not only present the latest agriservices to
the farmers, but would also bring them face to face with service providers
and government agencies. A special area in agriservices 2004 has been
marked as the Farm Management Arena. In this, companies,
universities and research establishments dedicated to agro extension
and farm management will present information related to agri-services
through, interactive demos and user-friendly models. This will act as
an excellent platform for interaction and exchange of ideas between
farm management companies from all over the country. Major agricultural
Universities and R&D establishments will also be part of this. A
special Agri Theatre has been set up for the benefit of
farmers. A multiplex structure, with three different soundproofed halls
will screen agri-based films of 20 minutes each, focusing on three key
issues:
Resource management: rainwater harvesting, micro irrigation,
soil management and wasteland development
Farm management: livestock management, organic farming and vermiculture
Post harvest management: mechanised farming and precision farming.
Another area of great significance will be the Futures Trading
Floor. Demonstrations of the futures trading process will describe
the importance and benefits of the futures exchange. A world of useful
information will be available for farmers at the Financial/Risk
Management World pavilion. This pavilion will give visitors an
insight into the customdesigned banking, insurance and credit policies
of the major players in various sectors such as agro insurance, water
insurance and rural credit.
